What The...?

I went to Ross this morning to get some pillows for the shams in our new duvet set. It was uneventful, easy and quick. Until I saw some crap. I usually don't even pay any attention to this kind of thing, but for some reason it caught my eye, threw me off my horse and I kind of got a little bit angry. It was a Barbie doll. I don't know what series it was in other than maybe skank? It got me to thinking. Has Barbie always been a skank and I just didn't notice? So I googled "Barbie 1985". My year. No, she wasn't a skank.

Sure, some things are the same. The blonde hair and hair accessories. But whoa! The makeup! The cleavage! The mini-mini skirt! I don't even want Cham Cham to see this in the store.

Am I overreacting?

Until Next Time,
The Guff

  1. You are not overreacting. It is awful. And if you think that's bad, you should check out the whole "Bratz" line.

I think that American Girl Dolls are overpriced exorbitant consumerist nightmares in some ways, but the girls' bodies are shaped like real little girls. And their clothes are modest and lovely. We've given in (because we were given dolls). Target has their own version.

We don't even go down the Bratz/Barbie aisle...I'm hoping Pixie thinks they are scary.

  2. You know why they put the sticker over her face...cause she's embarrassed of her skankiness...
