Help!

Do you need a laugh on this here hump day?

Recently Cham has been learning a lot- and getting a little frustrated when she has trouble accomplishing things she wants to. Things like fitting her grocery cart under her high chair, climbing up on the couch to sit with us and squeezing Owlie into the smallest spaces, for example. So I decided to teach her to ask for help. Well, it's hilarious.

See below, where she can't get the lid off of the tupperware she is playing with.
Yes, there are 3 videos. They are each hysterical.

Her face. kills. me.

I'm trying to teach her how to do the things she asks for help on as she asks... and not to laugh at her as she yelps for help- a task in itself.

Hope you got a giggle:)

The A-L-B

I mean, I'm 5 months pregnant. Maybe 6. I don't really know how you count it but I have less than 4 months until this baby boy is due! Still no name. Still not close. I am definitely, for sure, all the way feeling very pregnant all of the sudden. My baby bump has blown. up. way up. I'm sore, tired and ya know, feeling very pregnant. Bummer. I know I can be slow, but I don't know how I convinced my brain that I wouldn't feel pregnant this time around. And I'd be forever in normal jeans. I'm still riding that train... I haven't had to switch to any maternity clothes yet. Phew. But it's-a-comin'.

So, what should we name this little handsome boy? Give me some ideas. But not your favorites. 'Cuz if I like it I'm taking it.

This past weekend Cham & I went down south to visit my parents. We had a great time, hitting up all the spots. By "all the spots" I mean the two. Pearly's and Mark's Melon Patch for fall pictures & boiled peanuts.

Here's what the weekend looked like according to my phone:

Headed South

My Little Pony

Look at Chamblee's little pony. I gave it to her at dinner tonight and she really loved it. The funniest part was watching her put her hand up to her head trying to find it. Dying.

Dy. Ing.

I think I'll take her in public tomorrow with it. Bets on how many times DFACS gets called?

Spilled Milk

So What If. . .

{*} I wrote this blog last night and before I could click 'publish' I heard Cham throwing up on the monitor. What a mess.

Seriously. How did she not get any throw up on Owlie?
Had I needed to wash him it would have been. a. dis.as.ter.

{*} ...and a bonus So What if I didn't know what to do with a throwing up baby. So I called my mama.

{*} Every time I fry something in the cast iron skillet the fire department gets called. True story.

{*} I kind of love hand washing dishes. It's so therapeutic.

{*} When I drop food while cooking I point at it for my dog to scoop up. Win-Win.

{*} Lighting the candles in my house makes me feel like it's clean.

{*} I'll clean the house, do laundry, watch crap TV and start a project after midnight just to wait on my husband to get home tonight. I can't sleep without him. *edit: or rock a sick baby

{*} "Watching" things on EBay makes me feel like I bought them.

{*} I'm a sucker for all things that are for sale in line at the checkout.

{*} I locked Cham and her toys in the bathroom with me today so I could get a shower. (What? The girl wouldn't nap.)

{*} I call the city on my hoarder neighbors once a month. I have nothing better to do- apparently.

Cham hasn't been feeling well the past few days, but I think last night's episode had more to do with chugging 2 sippy-cups of milk right before bed than anything else. The girl was puttin' it down. So, I'm packed and ready to head to my parents' place for the weekend pending how she wakes up. Smiley or sleepy. We shall see...

Speaking of milk. Yesterday I asked K to swiffer the floors for me. Another chore I loathe. When he got home, he noticed a large stain on the floor and some very tiny footprints accompanying it...

Looks like a tiny little bunny was trying to hide spilt milk at some point yesterday... and forgot to cover her tracks.

Following in my Socks

Chamblee may have gotten all of her looks from her daddy, but she got one thing from me- for sure. Her compulsiveness. It can be awesome, and it can be tragic. In her case, it's awesome. Duh.

She pulled her socks off the other day and decided to lay them flat on the kitchen floor. They had to be just right. Here's proof:

This is only 2 minutes. It lasted a while. She even passed up fresh, ice cold milk. After I went about my business and she left the room, I found the socks like this:

Laying side by side, perfectly flattened next to each other. Just right.

That's my girl.

ConsignKidz

Today was one of those days. I woke up and knew I would be productive. I started out thinking I would clean out Chamblee's closet once she woke up. While K and I were deciding what she should wear for the day I realized that she isn't really fitting into her 9 month clothes anymore and I should get her some new ones. (She still wears a lot of 9m clothes @ 14 months... she's a wee one.) When she stood up and we could see her little outie belly button sticking through her shirt- I knew it was time. I have a hard time paying $$$ for baby clothes, because they outgrow them so fast. So, I got on the Mac and started looking for kids consignment shops in the area. There are a TON! Who knew?! Oh. Now, I do. I packed her up and off we went. We ended up only going to one place because Cham got super sleepy. We hit the jackpot! I could have spent hundreds of dollars in there, but that would've kinda defeated the purpose, right? So I spent $50 and got this lot:

1 pair of khakis, 2 pairs of blue jeans, 1 long sleeved t-shirt, 2 sweaters, an adorable hat,
a lined blue jean jumper, and a pair of tights.

Most of the stuff is from Gap Kids, and seems hardly worn. I'll be going to this joint... and often. They have a TON of baby boy stuff... that I had to seriously close my eyes and walk past. Next time, baby guffey. Next time. What did y'all do today?

This weekend one of my dearest friends is getting married and I can.not. wait. to celebrate with her and her groom and all of our friends! Tomorrow there will be clothes everywhere. I have to find something that fits over this little bump to wear to the wedding. Yowza.

It's Wednesday! So what.

So What If...

I sound just like Adele when I sing her songs in the car. I'm not gonna leave my family and go on tour or anything.

I can't say no to a good lifetime movie.

Last night called my husband, in the same house, on the cell piece, to bring a popsicle with him when he came upstairs.

My only motivation to go for a walk is to get a little sun.

I can't unload the dishwasher. It's the one chore of the house I loathe.

I just bought another diaper bag. I'm gonna need a bigger one with 2 babies, right?

I have never watched Dancing with the Stars.

I really, really like Courtney from 'Most Eligible Dallas'. I had never even heard of this show until yesterday when the marathon was on. She makes me laugh, so hard. I want to be her friend.

I pulled my car on the side of the road today to kill a bug that was on the inside of the driver window. And crawled across to the passenger side. And screamed the whole time. And did the 'I just killed a bug and don't wanna pick it up now' tap dance on the side of the road. Sometimes there should be a camera in my car.

I fell asleep reading the last chapter of my Bible Study book today. The girls will understand if I can't finish strong. I'm pregnant.

I think every iphone picture should be taken in Instagram.

Please, tell me what you are waving a wrist at today.

Monkey See Monkey Do

Chamberonia climbs everything. Always has, really. Her new fave is her crib. She starts up the bed rail and pushes onward to the mattress. Then she cries out, "Mama! Mama!" So I swoop in and set her back on the ground to repeat. These pictures were taken somewhere around round 10.

This is just a picture of her playing in her room right before a bath. You can't see it, but she's also peeing on the carpet.

"Yeah, I did it, so what?"

Butterfinger & Bib

Last week I made homemade Butterfingers via this recipe from Pinterest. They were so easy and so, so delicious. Literally 3 ingredients and 20 minutes. I skipped picture taking until things got interesting-ish.

1. Melt a bag of candy corn in the microwave.
2. Mix candy corn & peanut butter in a bowl, then spread it out on a cookie sheet.
3. Let cool. I put it in the fridge to hurry it up. I wanted to eat them ASAP.
4. Cut into squares. I used a pizza cutter.

If you want all perfect squares for your bars, just eat the crooked ones:)

4. Melt down your chocolate dipping sauce. Most people would use 'sweet' and not 'semi-sweet' chocolate but I thought it was better for our family to use 'semi-sweet'. K doesn't like things too too sweet.

5. Create a dipping station. The recipe says to use wax paper, but I used aluminum foil and it was just fine.

6. Just dip the squares into the chocolate and sit them on a cookie or drying sheet over aluminum foil.

7. Sit them in the fridge to harden!

Mine weren't as smooth as the recipe picture. Probably because Chamblee was fiercely pulling at my leg and my neighbor called me right in the middle of the dipping process. Like a ding-dong, I answered and thought I could juggle baby/babble/butterfinger at once. Wrong. The taste was not bothered by my distraction. They were to.die.for. Try them! So easy.

Another easy, peasy, 30 minute project that day? A reversible bib. For my brother's baby girl. She's eating avocados and making a mean mess. This was my first bib so I hope it fits. Anyway, here's to hoping she doesn't mind being my little bib guinea pig.

1. Pick your fabrics and fold them in half on top of each other. Then trace a pattern and start cuttin'.

2. Have a tornado come through.

3. And leave evidence. (I spy an owl foot)

4. Should look like this:

5. Unfold and pin edges.

6. Sew all the way around, leaving a small gap at the bottom to turn bib inside out.
7. Turn bib inside out and sew up the gap at the bottom.
8. Cut two small pieces of velcro (or snaps) and sew onto opposite sides of the top of the bib.
(sorry, I forgot to take pictures for these last few steps)
9. Wah-Lah. The easiest bib you have ever made.

I should have embroidered it. Oh well.
Happy Monday!

Wing Man

Everyone knows about Owlie. He's always in pictures, he's always talked about and he seems to always be saving the day. What people don't know about is his wing man. Blankie Boo. Sure, Owlie is cuter. He's easier to carry around. He's easier to personify. But he doesn't save the day alone.

Walking...

 Playing with magnets...

 Striking a pose...

Abandonment...

Resting...

 ...in the dog bed...

Napping...

 Sleeping...

Dreaming...

Kisses & snuggles...

They all require both. Owlie and Blankie Boo. Thanks for your underrated service to our family, BB.
