All You Can Eat

Well today was an all you can eat buffet of BANANAS.

This morning, as I left the house to pick up a sweet find, Chamblee got stung 15 times by something. A wasp, a horse fly, a something. I didn't see it clearly, but I do know that it flew into her shirt and got stuck in there. When I got to her and ripped her clothes off in the driveway I just saw it fly out. Jerk. I proceeded to count the whelps until I got to 15, all the while she was crying for her daddy. The one thing I couldn't deliver. Ice cream? A movie? Sweet mommy kisses? Wouldn't do. So a phone call would have to suffice. "You know mom, because stingy things are scared of daddy." Dead.

What was I going to pick up, you ask? The coziest little bassinet for our precious baby on the way:

Isn't it the sweetest? I can't decide if I want to paint it or not. My almost whole self screams, "Yes! Of course! Seafoam! Yellow!" But K gave me a funky look when I talked about painting it. The linens are so soft and cozy and makes me wonder how much weight it holds. I wanna crawl in.

We didn't have anything fancy for our other love babies, and they turned out just fine. This was just a deal I couldn't pass up. Wouldn't? Couldn't.

We stopped by CVS on the way home and got some medicine and sweet girl got to pick out a special for being so brave. She picked out a yellow corvette the moment we walked in the store.

I didn't want her to impulse buy, so I kept asking if she wanted an Ariel doll or some ice cream instead. As we walked up and down the toy aisle she finally lowered her head and said, "I just really wanted the yellow car that I saw." GASP. I'm a controlling & pushy mom. "Go get it, girl."

When we got home the Benadryl kicked in and she napped on the couch with our favorite quilt while The Lorax played in the background.

A sweet lady came by the house and bought a pair of my shoes for half the price of the bassinet while the bunny napped, and then I dozed off myself.

An hour later Jacob woke me up with his gibberish through the monitor. I sure wish I knew what that kid was talking about. He is so darn happy when he wakes up, he can only be dreaming about Heaven.

We played upstairs for a while. Until he hit the back of his head -hard- smack dab on the corner of the dresser and it promptly started bleeding. "Mom of the year award goes to..." I didn't know if I should take him in or cry with him. So I decided to just kiss him until I felt better. Lucky for me, my kisses seem to be enough for his sweet little heart, and soon enough we were tangled at the foot of my bed, just snugglin'. He's the coziest.

When Cham woke up we had snacks and baths and ran around naked for playtime. Not me. Them. Swear. While I was brushing Cham's long locks out, I noticed Jake's little feet sticking out from under the shower curtain. When I drew it back I found him. peeing. on the side of the tub. He was delighted. When he noticed me, he looked up and said "Whoaaaaa." Amazed. Cutest thing I've ever seen.

He's a total boy.

They are the perfect pair.

By the time K got home two of my press on nails had popped off and The Lorax was on again. Sue me.

17 days until we move, and we are in full gear over here. Yard sale this weekend and then the final pack and clean. After this weekend, we'll be living on paper plates and mattresses on the floor for a week. An adventure!

It's always an adventure of some kind, isn't it?

North

I'm glad that I am hiding behind this computer as I write what I am about to write. Otherwise, I'd have a face full of tomatoes being pelted at me. Or beer cans. Something for sure. Here goes.

I kind of like the name North.
I don't hate it.

If you are reading this from under a rock: see here.
Then proceed.

I know. Ok. North West is a ridiculous name. It sounds like an airline company. It's like naming your kid Tu Morrow. (Real. Name.) But listen. Apple? Blanket? Seriously. North is not that bad. I get that it's crazy and North West is taking it a little far. But North, by itself, isn't horrible. People name their kids Easton, West, Weston and blah blah blah. I kind of dig North. I can get behind it. North Guffey. What? I kid.  Like I said before, we're :kind of: waiting until he/she's in kindergarten to name this baby. So no clue yet. Maybe North will have caught on by then. Anyone? Hello? :tomatoes:

Well, anyway.

Have any of you ever seen the show 24? ::hysterics:: I know we are literally a decade+ behind, but it's our new Netflix marathon. Have you heard of it? Y'all. The Allstate guy is in it. gasp. I can't even take him seriously. You should see the cell phones they use. I die.

It's Sunday and K and the bunny are on a Home Depot run while the dinosaur sleeps. I'm supposed to be cleaning and packing and getting ready for our yard sale. But I just ate 3 cookies and decided to sit instead. What? I'm all growing a baby up in here. I know, it's not an excuse to eat cookies and sit around. Blah blah blah. Last night I got short of breath and started googling things that cause shortness of breath in pregnancy  and turns out: it's a baby. Who knew.

North Guffey.

Y'all. KK might have inspired me to give my baby a really weird name. Stay tuned.

Hey You Guuuys

You Guuuuuuuys.

I'm having summer blues. It's been nothing but rainy around here. And where are all my teacher friends? You know... the ones who, during the school year, are all like "I can't wait until summer! We will hang out all the time! Pool baby!" Uh, it's summer. I'm pale. Where are you? Oh right. Camps and tutoring and vacations. upon vacations. Right. It's all a big lie! I'm kidding.

I have been selling stuff on Craigslist and Facebook as I have been packing... and I have kind of made all kinds of money. It's so easy! People want this stuff! It's baffling. And amazing. I'm having a yard sale in a couple of weeks... Have you ever had one? I haven't. My sistah-in-law thinks that's crazy because she had/has them all the time. I'm excited but kind of eh. What if no one shows? She's coming to help me. thankgoodness. Today the kids and I make signs. My very favorite part.

If I can stay awake. This combo of two kids and pregnant is wearing me to the bones! Chamblee is now waking up around 3 every morning and needing to go potty (yay!) That means I get woken up to what I think is the dog crawling up into our bed, so I kick at it, then I feel tiny little hands cupping my cheeks, followed by a very serious whisper, "mom. MOM. I need to go potty right. now." So we go. And then she is ready for the day. Ready like, "Can I have breakfast? I'm so hungry. Can you get me some water? It's very thirsty in here. Mom, you can't go back to sleep, it's going to be a beautiful day! Mom. Mom!" Most times all I can muster out is a cloudy "uh uh cham. nite nite" but I'm so proud of her I could bust. Big girl panties overnight are on the horizon. And so is her third birthday. Come again? That's right. Baby girl will be 3 in less than 2 months. For her birthday party? That she already talks about every day? She's requested a RescueBot theme with blue balloons and a blue cake with blue sprinkles. I can do that. Don't know what RescueBots are? They're transformers. This one is her very favorite. His name is Bumblebee.

I love my kiddos. I could not be prouder of the little tiny people that they are.

You know, early morning cartoons & coffee

no shame

seriously. no shame.

We haven't gotten to naming this baby yet, but at least it is on someone's mind. She usually asks to name him Silas (her tan baby cousin's name) So I was truly shocked when these names made their first time into the name-game.

Yeah, we wear our pajamas all day around here.

Rock On.

So, I may have overdone it a bit today. I got all riled up and started packing like crazy and lifting all kinds of boxes and doing some aerobics to clean out the backs of closets and under beds and in high and low places. I got a lot done. I also started getting all kinds of cramps and pains in the bump, so I ordered myself on bed rest. After all, I am kind of a doctor.

So, I'm laid up watching a Hart of Dixie marathon. Eating dinner in bed and listening to my littles run wild and giggle downstairs with their daddy.

*****

That was yesterday. I never finished writing because I fell asleep or something really interesting like that. Today K left at 4:00am to go on a work trip, and he just returned. Right on time to help me finish up the baths and give nite-nite kisses to the ones who love him :almost: as much as I do. Only this guy would travel his butt off and not complain because he doesn't want to miss one night with his family. Man, he loves us. And that. is a good feeling.

This is today. Today I had one of my best come over with her little man and help me pack up my closet and drawers. She told me what I needed to keep and laughed at some things I actually paid real money for. This house is slowly but surely shedding its skin. To boxes and bags and friends and the curb. I am ready to go. We've had a good run here. It's a great house. We learned about two of our kids here. My kids learned to walk here. And while we didn't necessarily outgrow this place... we grew here. And when I think about all of the memories we stuffed into 2.5 years in this house I get a little misty. So. Many. Memories. Milestones. Firsts and Lasts. I'm excited to make our new house our forever home and make more memories and have more milestones to keep at the tips of my fingers and length of my sight for a while.

Speaking of the new house, we found one. It got down to the wire, and I'm so glad it did, because what fun is it for everything to just fall right into place? We have 30 days until the big move out/move in. I can hardly wait. I love [this kind of] change.

My kids are huge. And by huge I mean they are growing like weeds and I should write about them more often and not whine about moving all of the time.

Jacob is a downright delight. He's so charming and amiable and an absolute stud. Kind of never stops smiling. He's starting to communicate and say real words and do a whole lot of head nodding and shaking. He's pretty solid. When he says no, the boy means no. And when he says yes, he means all in, oh yeah, heck yes with it. With a slow and lengthy nod. He has a little gap in his teeth which only makes my belly shake a bit harder when we are laughing together and I see it peek out from his impish grin. That little gap steals my heart for just a moment. For lots of moments. He makes my heart mushy and warm.

Chamblee is smarter than me. If I'm lyin' I'm cryin'. She's grown into this beautifully sweet little humanitarian. She stands firm [and I mean concrete] in what she believes to be fair, and has a wonderfully eloquent way of explaining her case. And to avoid discipline? Well. She has a very logical explanation for her actions- and the way she cups my face while explaining it to me and smooches my nose when she is finished- well. It :almost: makes me fog out on what it is she was doing wrong, anyway. If that doesn't spell Politician I don't know what does. She's a dream. My dream.

I can't wait to see what this next little bundle is all about. Boy or Girl? Another mini-Kraig? On time, early or late? Will this one be all tan and dark headed? Or be another obvious Guffey baby with toe head and baby blues? I can't. wait. And by the time we get moved in and settled, it'll be baby time. Rock on. ::baby dance::

This is the sweetest thing I've ever captured. Just sayin'.

Well, this was like eleven posts in one.

Until Next Time,

Junk in the Trunk

Don't ever sell a house and buy a house at the same time. It's so stressful. Gag.

We are having quite the time around here - packing, playing, house hunting, growing babies, selling our first home and enjoying the summertime skies. It's crazy and it's messy and it's absolutely busy town.

Chamblee is a full grown teenager and Jacob is a cool, hysterical toddler. They are perfect.

My Fashion Star

Groovin' to some tunes at Summer Fest

We are starting to feel the heat of this new little baby boo coming- naming process, house finding, and "ohmyword we will have three kids" is kicking into high gear. We cannot. wait.

As far as my pregnancy goes, it's cruising along. No complaints here. Still doing a little tummy sleeping and usually all the way through the night. My shirts are a little tight, but no maternity gear just yet. That's what I love about being pregnant in the summertime. Maxi skirts and old navy tank tops. BAM. Sunday marked a full 22 weeks and baby is kicking and swishing around. That feeling never gets old.

I'm trying to clean out this darn house as we move- posting all over craigslist and facebook and having a yard sale at the end of the month. I don't care about the money, really. I just want it all out of this house, never to appear in the next. Too. Much. Stuff. You don't know how much JUNK you have until you have to box it all up. And, I'm not. I'm not boxing anything that I don't want in the next house.  That's my final answer. It's going to be so nice having only things that we need and/or love in the new place.

The next few weekends around here are being devoted to packing, house hunting and uh, that's it. We are kind of in a time crunch to not be homeless in 5 weeks. Gasp! Please, please don't tune in when we are featured on 'Pregnant and Homeless'.  I'll be all weeping in my shabby chic corner of our U-Haul. I kid. We won't be homeless...exactly.

I'm hitting the all-time high emotional roller coaster and that makes all of this really easy on K.
::blink blink::
Whatever, I'm pregnant. I'm going to eat a snickers ice cream bar and see how much weight I can gain before my next check up.
Holla!

Until Next Time,
