Salads & Surprises

When I was pregnant I only had a few cravings- macaroni & cheese, caprese salads and deviled eggs. The thing was- I ate them, and only them, for weeks at a time. Now, not pregnant (I promise), I am craving this salad. I don't know the name of it. Ramen salad? A good friend of mine made it for me after Cham Cham was born, and I became obsessed. So, when I made a meal for a friend who recently had a baby, I thought it would be perfect to pay it forward. Easy, simple, good flavor and texture. When I got home from my parents' I made another one. Just for me. It's almost gone... but I thought I would share the recipe with ya'll. You know, pay it way forward.

Here's what you'll need:
1 bag of slivered almonds

1 bag of cole slaw

3 tablespoons of sesame seeds

3 packs of ramen noodles

Brown the sesame seeds, almonds and ramen noodles with a stick of butter. Yes. One. Whole. Stick. Mix them in with the cole slaw. That's it.

There is also a fantastic dressing that goes along with it:

1 cup rice wine vinegar
1 cup sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
0.5 cup low sodium soy sauce
(if you're feeling frisky, add the flavor from the ramen packs to the dressing. Mmm)

Speaking of salad, there's another one that I have been copy catting since my bro made it for us out in Cali.

Here's what you'll need:
romaine lettuce

raspberries

blue cheese crumbles

candied pecans

avocado

brianna's poppyseed dressing. a MUST.

Oh. My. It is the best salad I have ever ever ever had. Ever.

My sis-in-law loves surprises. I hate them. And I am rarely surprised. I'm sneaky and curious, so even when people try to surprise me, it's rare that they succeed. K surprised me when he proposed. Chamblee surprised me...period (or lack thereof). And yet again, K has surprised me. Twice in one week!
He got these for me:
silver hammered ring set/peridot

silver necklace/peridot

I. Love. Them. The stone is peridot which is little hoot's birth stone. I love them so much- and they mean so much to me. The ring just came in today- from Turkey. huh? They both actually came from Etsy, and are handmade. I die.

What's your birth stone?
Mine's diamond!

Until Next Time,
The Guff
