Come on in

...to our room.

There's been a lot of craftiness going on in this house recently. The bunny is getting bigger and better at on-time naps, leaving scheduled time for me to clean craft. Yesterday I made a little coat hanger for our foyer. I found these letters at hobby lobby and, duh, spray painted a sign that I already had hanging around. I just nailed the letters to the board and hung her up.

Next I tackled the master bedroom. I don't have any before pictures, of course, sorry. Here's what it looks like today:

I found two sets of frames at the thrift store and kinda jacked this idea. Anyway.

K and I wrote out our vows and I framed them in the small dark wooden frames.

The loose hanging pages are the lyrics handwritten to "our song". You can listen to that amazing song right here

I love that the letters aren't exactly straight. For once. I also love that the loose pages are only tacked at one corner and sway a bit with the breeze of the fan. It makes me feel cozy.
I got the browned and crinkled look for the paper by following the antique drawing tutorial here

Our bedside tables are similar and simple. Lamps, a couple of Reader's Digest books and a must-have picture of the bunny. {and a thesaurus for me. love 'em.}

I bought our curtains at IKEA and hemmed them myself. They came with the iron-on adhesive, but I opted for the real stitch deal. I am thinking about adding a burlap stripe at the bottom. One day.

And, no. Our room is not always this neat. I do try to make the bed every day, but there's usually laundry on the bed, a bunny in the play pen and a cup, er, or two, on the side tables. Oh, and lots of nerdy stuff strewn about.

Hope you like it as much as I do! But it's ok if you don't. You don't get to have to sleep here.

Did someone mention a bunny?
We've had a fun week so far...

First: a bad hair day straight from the bath

Next: I was distracted. By something. I didn't even notice until I swung her around to sit on my hip and she went flying all the way around my back. Her face says it all...

oops.

Oh, but she forgives me. She's the sweetest.

Play Wonder

Cham Cham is hard pressed to get to walking. She doesn't like to be held for very long, and she doesn't like to lay. Ever. If she's sitting, it's usually because she's scoping out the place for something to stand up on and walk with. That being the case, K and I have been talking about getting her a walker of some sort. He really wanted to get her a grocery shopping cart. Something she could pile her toys in and waltz them around. Something exactly like this:

We were hoping for it to be wooden. We were hoping that we could remove the cloth basket for washing. We were hoping it would be the right height for our little hoot. The above shopping cart is from Play Wonder, and is about $30. Pretty affordable. However, when I saw this shopping cart. in pink. in excellent condition. at Goodwill. I almost screamed with delight. Actually, I think I did. That's right. I got her the above shopping cart for a whoppin' $6. Talk about a SCORE.

She loves it!

Lay Down The Boogie

You know it's a good wedding when you wake up with your head at the foot of the bed. And your cheeks hurt as much as your feet.

My friend Renee got married last night and we had the. best. time. Ever.
There was a macaroni bar, there was champagne, there was a band, there was dancing. Lots and lots of it.
There were also videographers. I'm terrified. We boogy woogied our tooshies off.
Like absolute lunatics.
It was so much fun.

I'm happy to be able to relax today and rest my tired toes. For a minute, anyway. It's hard to sit still when you have a little girl who keeps trying to climb the stairs:

Congrats to the Redmonds!!!

The frizz that iz

My hair is frizzy. It's puffy and frizzy, always. Yes, it gets worse when it's rainy. So I use a flat iron to keep it silky smooth most of the time. It usually doesn't work. Sunday my flat iron broke. The little switch just fell off. So I bought a new one yesterday and while I was in Sally's I bought some Moroccan hair oil. Life Changer. If you have frizzy hair -or hair at all- and you want it to be silky, run through your fingers soft and straight, buy this stuff. But don't waste your money.

Yes, that is still expensive, but you don't need very much and it is worth every single little copper penny.

My hair was still pretty and silky straight this morning when I woke up. That never happens!!!

Be My Guest

Our guest room is so. blah.
Not that we often have guests stay over- but still. It's a mess.

Off white bed. Off white armoir. Off white curtains. Off white end tables. Beige walls. Bluh bluh bluh off white berber carpet. I literally woke up this morning and thought "Today is the day. I am designing that room." So I did what all of you would do. I called my interior-designer-genius friend for advice. We have similar style/taste and she is brilliant so I knew she could help. And of course, she did. {all the way from Indiana!}

I am all over navy right now and I have some yellow curtains from World Market {that I bought from her!} that I really, really wanted to use. The room doubles as my craft nook, so I am hoping to do a little horizontal stripe action on the small end wall of my little creative space- A la Joon over at The Adventures of Ordy and Joon. She's a stripe pro.

So we came up with a couple of color schemes and shopped around for inspiration pictures all day.

Here's what we came up with:

We He paints today. We I decorate tomorrow.
What do you think of the colors?

Inside Scoop of the Coop

I always smile when I think about the things Ophie has chosen to love and adore, and how they lay in her crib sure to give her sweet dreams every night. I thought I'd give y'all an exclusive inside story on these things.

Clockwise from L to R:

1. An embroidered paisley blankie from lnw. COG's favorite part? The silky backside.

2. Mr. Giraffe. He's so soft and sweet. COG's favorite part? His tail. It's now flat from her sucking on it!

3. Pink Pup. He is just the right size and has little knots for arms and legs that she enjoys gnawing on. But- COG's favorite part? The brown ear. Don't ask me why she prefers it over the pink. She just does.

4. Owlie. And if I had to pick a part she messes with the most while awake... The tags. And the ears.

5. My blanket. This was mine as a little girl. And if it was another hand-me-down, don't tell me! I put it in the crib for Cham to lay over. Her favorite part? The eyelet lace edges.

6. Her blankie boo. That's what I call it. {"Oh, we can't forget your blankie-boo!"} If she's fussy or sleepy I just throw this over my shoulder, hold her up against it and wah-lah. Enter thumb and heavy eyelids. Her favorite part? Rubbing her fingers along the embroidery.

7. Her pinkie. You know, pink/blankie. I started using this just as a regular ol' blanket to keep her warm overnight. Then -when I would go in to check on her late at night-  I started noticing that she liked for it to be in her hands and against her face. She is always holding onto it through her dreams. It is so, so soft.

And, uh, this is what her crib really looks like. Chaos.

You heard it here first.

Sunday

My first mother's day was wonderful.
We slept in {oops!}, had presents in bed, K made my favorite- his pancakes- and we streamed church online. We cooked lunch together and shared the afternoon {and mimosas} with family. Chamblee had her first try in her bumble bee swimming pool and I did not change one poopy diaper all. day. Not one! {conveniently enough, she had 5 yesterday! FIVE!} It was a day that I won't ever forget. It was beautiful, it was simple and it was sweet. I am so lucky to be Chamblee Ophelia's mommy.
