Press-On

I'm a nail biter. Always have been. Except the times when all my nails are gone. Then I am a cuticle biter. I know it's gross, everyone tells me that. Get in line.

I decided that when my friend B got married that I would have nails to paint. So I grew them out- just for her wedding. They looked nice. I bit them off the day after, I think. But I liked having them.

I get these urges to have nails, though. You know, to not look like I have little boy hands. So usually I go and get solar nails, spend $50 and then seriously break one or bite one off within the week. Plus they look really funny on me I think. I'm not the french manicure type.

So last week when I was house sitting for my peeps I got the urge. I took the little hoot with me to get a pedicure and in an instant I decided I was going to get nails, too. Even as I was telling the guy at Ruby Nails that I would like a full set, I was simultaneously and internally giving myself the side eye and furrowed brow. "You really think you have time to upkeep those things? Right. How are you gonna change a diaper with those long things in the way? You're insane. What a waste. K's gonna roll his eyes at you as soon as he sees the white tips. Haven't we been here before? You know you hate how they look." Yes, I am even stubborn with myself.

No sooner had I picked out a color baby girl woke up. This meant I had no time for both. What would it be- Mani or Pedi? Duh. I nixed the nails. She's already saving me money. And regret.

I still had the itch for cute hands so I stopped by Target on the way home and bought some press-on nails. Yes, I can see Mrs. U and Nay Nay shaking their heads right. now. What? I am now convinced that they are the perfect solution to my problem. Here's why:
  • They are $6
  • They make my hands look nice
  • They don't ruin my real nails
  • They are easy to replace if I lose or break one...and the paint won't chip!
  • I can easily take them off whenever I want
And most importantly...
  • It's a fun activity
So, while I am trying to grow out my real nails, I will continue on the press-on path.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is my tip for the day. Get it? heh heh

Until Next Time,
The Guff

  1. That sounds great...but since I don't bite my nails, what I really need is a press-on pedicure. Any ideas?
