California Called

I missed my sister.
I just did.

So K and I worked out a way that I could fly out to see her.
She lives kind of far away.

I decided to make it the ultimate girl trip and take J Bird and Cham with me.
It was awesome.

No, I haven't completely lost my marbles, taking two littles on an airplane all by myself.
I thought it would be so much fun. It was.

Yeah, there were some moments that I would've liked to just press the 'easy' button.
Let's see.

Like when I had to ask a stranger to hold J while I clipped on the carrier.
Like when my phone broke.
Like when I had to carry both girls and 3 bags and pull a suitcase.
Down an escalator.
Like when J had an explosion-to-the-max diaper on the plane.
Like when I didn't get to pee for 12 hours.
Like when the lady next to us on the plane said "that baby's LOUD."
sidenote: you know I said something...
Like when everyone at LAX and ATL got to watch me breastfeed.
Like when there was a two-hour delay. And we were already sitting on the plane.

::But for every action there's an equal / opposite reaction::

Like the lady on the plane who offered to hold J so I could pee.
Like the lady on the plane who introduced herself and said, "I know you don't know me, but I love babies. If you need a break, I'd love to hold that precious girl!"
Like the guy who carried all of my bags off of the plane for me.
Like the guy who took the nasty said-above diaper from me and said, "you already have enough to hold." Saint.
Like the airport employee who waited with me for the bus, so I wouldn't miss it.
Like the lady on the bus who let me use her phone.
Like the half a dozen people who played peek-a-boo with J on the planes to keep her happy.
Like the flight attendant who made it possible to have a full row to ourselves.

6am at the airport

2 hour delay

Yeah, I asked a stranger to take a picture

All in all, I give it a 9 out of 10. It was pretty breezy.
And, by golly, it was WORTH IT.

I had decided not to just go and see my sister, but to surprise her.
You know, knock her socks right off.

Her husband (who was in on it) picked us up from the bus stop and we headed to the house.
Oh.My.Word.

I'll never in my life forget the look on her face. It was THEBEST.
Aside from the look on her face, the shock. the confusion. the whaaa...aaa?
She fell to the ground. Truth.
Fell right down.

Then when her boo carried Josephine around and she saw her
(for the first time evah)
She fell right down again. I laughed a lot and she cried.
It was the jam. the diggity. the best.

I'm so glad it worked out. I'm so grateful our men made it happen for us.
I had the best time.
